I use resharper as part of my development environment. In many ways it is a good tool and there are features in it I would hate to live without. However there are a lot of occasions were it pushes the line with me. Right now is one of those occasions. Something is wrong and their engine is crashing constantly.
That isn't good, but I can understand problems. I've written plenty of bugs. But here is where the suck comes in: every time the engine crashes it pops up a Dr. Watson type dialog to send in information about the crash. This would be alright except that it takes it about a minute to sort itself out. In some cases it takes longer. Worse, clicking on the don't show this dialog again doesnt seem to help.
After a few cycles of this I killed VS, took a break, and then wrote this.
The reason I buy tools is to increase my productivity. Happy to pay money for tools that make me better. If I were an athlete I would do every safe steroid I could find that gave me a competitive advantage. But the instant it either showed itself not to be safe or provide competitive advantage it would be out. resharper is getting dangerously close to falling in that category.
